this week..."making sure you don't forget" part 1
i'm going through my shit looking
for artists/songs that may be slipping from
our collective memories, maybe some are too obvious or way off base...who
cares? hopefully, someone out there will go...OH YEAH!!! i used to dig
those guys!
and please forgive the "takes" my server will only allow me
to upload files of
no more than a certain size....enjoy!! and please...lemme know what

fastbacks-apologies
for 20 years now the fastbacks have been the rawk's eveready bunny.
angry samoans-inside my brain
how could anyone forget the samoans?
well, one listen to this and you
never will!
bad brains-pay to cum
the greatest hardcore band ever!
and whoa...h.r.'s vocals on this
are INSANE!
richard hell & the voidoids-kid with the replaceable head
everyone is hip to blank generation
but how many of you
bought the second record? listen to quine's ear drum
wrecking solo...holy shit!
blue oyster cult-dominance & submission
their influence is undeniable (hell,
they were name checked
and covered by the minutemen) and this song even gave
an album title to radio birdman! this song rules!
godfathers-this damn nation
totally underrated...there's way
more to em than "birth, school,
work, death" this is a great place to start.
leaving trains-drunker version of you
falling james is still at it and
doing great! hear's an
early tune from the mighty kill tunes
gang of four-i found that essence rare
a major influence on the minutemen
and the best
live band i've ever seen!
lester bangs & the delinquents-i just wanna be a movie star
dunno how many copies of jooks
savages on the brazos were
printed initially (i still have my vinyl copy...after selling it to
dj philly phil and getting it back years later as a xmas gift!
thanks phil!!) and sporatically available as an import cd, this
is just screaming for re-issue. a must have!
soft boys-i wanna destroy you
part syd barrett part punk rawk,
a lost classic recently
reissued by matador. robyn hitchcock ain't been shit since!
blasters-border radio
in a punk rawk world these guys went roots...and i thank you!
camper van beethoven-sweethearts
from cool "novelty" act
with cool songs to cool songs by former
novelty act...then they split hatefully birthing cracker and
monks of doom...we obviously know where the "brains"
laid.
dave edmunds-crawling from the wreckage
from love sculpture to solo to
rockpile back to solo,
he's the quintessential journeyman guitar slinger.
jason & the scorchers-both sides of the line
still going strong (after years
of weakness and
laziness) this is (to me) their best tune ever! the
best meshing of rawk and country ever!
